The key for a unique gift

Some people are gifted with a particular gift. When we were youngsters we had a nose to recognize those gifted people, especially when a birthday was coming up! I sincerely hope you still have (at least) one of them in your  ‘inner family and friends circle’. I’m talking about: those uber-talented,  inspirational, creative “I always find the most awesome, lucrative, original presents on the face of the earth”  kind of people.

Maybe you are one of them, if not; no worries! With this gift-idea you can surprise your special guests of honour with something unique which nobody else has.

At the end of last year I wanted to give my beautiful, lovely, smart, funny 18 year old niece a gift for a very special occasion. In my previous post I mentioned I have 2 daughters, but since becoming Quiana’s godmother last year I actually have three gorgeous girls now! I wanted to give her something special, something to remind her how lovely she is and of the great things she is capable of doing. I did some browsing on the world.wide.web. and came across: ‘The Giving Keys’ an unique pendant with one encouraging word engraved in it. Quiana received the key with the message believe.

‘The Giving Keys’ is a company (founded by  singer songwriter Caitlin Crosby) which provides homeless people a job to transition out of their situation. Not only this part makes ‘The Giving Keys’ worthwhile giving, but the philosophy behind it just gave me goosebumps the first time I read it. The message is to pay it forward. Crosby says: “Their message is yours for a time, but once they’ve served their purpose with you, pay it forward to inspire another.”

I can hear you think:  “WHAT’s the point of giving such a present, if it has to be given away again?!” Well I guess empowering somebody else with something that encouraged you in a certain period in your life will give you great irreplaceable joy. Have to say I wouldn’t recommend you to pass it on the next day, month or even year (unless you REALLY believe it is something you need to do), but really let the message sink in into your life first. To help my goddaughter never forget this gift, I photographed her with the pendant. I’m a very proud mama and already delighted to know that one day she will give her believe key away to someone special to her…
